As well as being a published songwriter and regular performer - not to mention my day job as an Educator - I have always been a writer, albeit one who sometimes doesn't take it seriously enough.
All that changed in 2024. Going part-time in my day job gave me freedom not only to prioritise and give more time to song-writing and recording (releasing two albums in one year is a huge achievement, as any indie musician will tell you, and I'm hugely indebted to James Mason at Island Farm Studios for his work on this).
Not only that, but it was also the year in which I built upon my BA degree in Creative Writing and Drama and my PGCE English by completing a Master's qualification in Children's Literature with the University of Roehampton. Two years of part-time study alongside a full time job AND music has made me see that writing it one of my greatest loves, and it's time to take it seriously.
As such, please take a look at the information below to see my published portfolio, some fiction - I'm hoping 2025 will be the year this section develops - and professional writing for various businesses, not to mention a return to Music Journalism, something I always enjoyed.
Please note I tend to publish under E Shadbolt or E Braidwood. Yes, it's confusing for me, too.

If you would like to get in touch to discuss content / copy-writing for a project - particularly pro bono / small projects as I rebuild my writing portfolio - please do, particularly in terms of charity and independent projects. I'd love to help.

Since I last wrote, we’ve had Christmas, New Year, the longest January of all time, and of course Valentine’s Day. In that time, I’ve written and presented a podcast on Spotify and YouTube, been featured on TWO songs by the inimitable Hamilton Hound, begun a sequel to the children’s book I finished last year, featured as a voiceover artist for a London business’s phone tree, and compiled a short showreel of my recent album in the hope of promoting and celebrating it even more.
You can get involved with these – if you wish – below.
But now for the REAL work
Apart from some slightly challenging personal events (trying to buy a flat is complicated; who knew? And why did it take me until the age of thirty-eight to find this out? – the answer is inflation, of course), I’ll be focusing, over the next few months, on two projects:
- The aforementioned writing project, along with trying to get a literary agent for the first book – if anyone has any tips, I’d love to hear them;
- Getting my album together, ostensibly for release in May, but that month is already breathing down my neck.
Watch this space for more news – you’ll be the first to know! And thank you, as always, for your support.
With immense gratitude,
Liz

My showreel – it would mean a lot to me if you’d give it a click, even if you don’t actually watch it 😊

New releases from Hamilton Hound: Teardrops and You Don’t Have to Hide
It seems, lately, that the concept of a gender balance in the music industry is less of a misnomer; artists like Chappelle Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, and Lola Young have – in addition to producing gloriously poppy, honest and often rather comical music – begun to ...
